WORSHIP PLANNING REPORT TO AGM to 31st March 2024
Perhaps one of the biggest changes this year has been the departure of Simon but we are delighted to see him and listen to his music when he is in Sheffield. Unfortunately, there was no response to the advert for an organist but this will be revisited in May. A rota drawn from our own band and from the organists we know is in place. Kit formed a scratch choir at Harvest and Christmas.
A Local Arrangement service, focused on refugees and organised by the wardens and stewards, was powerful. It is good to encourage people to take part - they may have talents they don’t know they have! LAs will become more frequent in the future.
The children are increasing in number and Naomi has become involved in All Age Holy Communion to get to know them better. Soon there will be a special corner for them in church. There is now a podcast of the services for busy parents.
Main services have gone well including keeping in contact with the Quakers, Inderjit Bhogal introducing the Church of Sanctuary to us, Taize in Advent and Lent, the church buzzing at Christmas with over two hundred at both services, Maundy Thursday with St Augustines, a moving Good Friday vigil and a joyful Easter Morning with Simon and a scratch choir.
We have welcomed Mary Mitchel and Lydia Hutchins to the Worship group.
