Safeguarding Report 2024

Safeguarding report to the Annual Church Meeting 2024

Safeguarding Displays and Policy

The Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy for St Andrew’s Psalter Lane Church, based on the Methodist model policy, was reviewed and approved by the ECC in November 2023. There were a few minor changes made since the last review. The Policy is displayed on the Safeguarding notice board in the narthex, and the SAPLC notice board in Shirley House.

The Child Protection Person poster has at last been updated – thanks to Judith Roberts for the new photo of Judith Loveman!

DBS checks

People in certain roles have to have a DBS check. All Junior Church volunteers, and all Tuesday Café volunteers except one have had DBS checks. I have started work on the Church Links and Home Communion Team who need checks, and some of these have already been completed. The others are in hand.

Safeguarding training

All Trustees as well as other volunteers need to do Safeguarding training. I pass on details of training as I receive them from the Circuit and arrange booking when the dates suit people.

Once all the paperwork has been sorted out, we will be as up-to-date as is possible, though of course as new people join our teams there is always more to do.
