Family and Children's Ministry
Sunday2 in its breakfast style of service revived in September 2021 when we came back to church. Because of the constraints of Covid, we no longer used large tables for groups to sit around, but dotted card tables around the church and also had plastic tray/boxes to put activities in. The services have been well received and we now have a planning team who are also taking part in leading the worship: Julie Jordan-Brown, Rachel Wildgust and Anna Calvert. Sunday2 was always designed as a 12 month experiment but was cut short after its first six months, so this time we will be running it until the summer holidays and can then evaluate it and decide whether it should continue. The response of those who have attended has been very positive and we would like to encourage more members of the congregation to try it out for themselves.
Since we returned to church the numbers of children have been growing, and in response to this, we have started up the Junior Church activities that take place during the main service again. So far this has really been my responsibility but we are starting a rota of helpers and Cheryl Collins, recently returned to Sheffield and to the congregation has volunteered to assist. Clare Loughridge, who has been involved with the children’s work for so long, is now dealing with the broadcasting of the services but has continued to download Roots material that the children can use. We have started a Junior Church WhatsApp Group which means that we are able to check who expects to be at church each Sunday; this is very helpful and allows us to plan for ages and numbers in a more specific way.
Sadly, the Mission Partnership activities have not yet revived, though I hope that this will not be a long term gap.
Clifford All Saints assemblies have restarted and it has been very good to take part in these.
Church visits from other schools are also being planned.
