Lent Course 'Connections' at All Saints, Ecclesall: 20th March at 7.30 pm
It is vital that Christian faith and witness connects effectively and authentically with “life as we know it” in the world outside the Church, which we encounter every day. We cannot be isolated or insulated from wider debates, ghettoised or restricted in our response.
So come along to find out more about how Christians are engaging with the world of law, through the courts, with the world of care, through the relief of pain; and in the unknown stories of connections made by Churches into their communities.
These lectures which will include discussion are open to church members, other churches and of course your invited guests.
Full details here.
Each occasion will take place in All Saints, Ecclesall Church. They are open to everyone and the talks will begin at 7.30pm followed by questions and refreshments.
Lent - Unbound Love The Methodist Church has created a Lent campaign called Unbound Love based on Charles Wesley's famous hymn Love Divine, All Loves Excelling (Singing the Faith 503) which talks about Jesus as 'unbounded love' – a kind of love that cannot be contained, that works in our lives and in our world to free us and heal us. Unbounded Love is the theme of the Methodist Church Lent campaign in 2024 – holding together our commitments to be a justice-seeking church, and a people who experience and proclaim the good news of God's uncontainable love.
District Communications Officer, Sam Roberts has created some social media resources which can be found here.
They will be shared on the district channels from Sunday 18th February - look out for them on our social media too!
Action for Children - Count your blessings through Lent We know some of you are keen to take part in Count your Blessings, daily reflections and short stories about our work with opportunities to make small donations during Lent. The leaflet (4 pages) is available here.
We can print copies in the Church Office – please ask Janet Loughridge if you would like a copy.
Count your blessings with Christian Aid This Lent, Christian Aid is also encouraging you to count your blessings, and make 40 small steps towards a more just world.
